My Background
Allen
C. Miller, Jr., a trial attorney practicing in Hudson (Columbia
County), New York, has tried more than 45 jury trials to verdict
over the last 20 years.
After
graduating in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Physics from
the University of Pennsylvania, and serving four years as a
gunnery officer in the U.S. Navy, he attended law school in
1976. Upon graduation from Albany Law in 1979, he and his wife
Jean returned to his hometown of Claverack (near Hudson, NY),
where they have lived ever since.
As
the first full-time prosecutor for the Columbia County District
Attorney’s Office in the early 1980's, he soon realized that
winning in the courtroom rested less on courtroom dramatics than
on thorough preparation and relentless investigation of the
facts. Much of his experience came from presenting over 100
cases to the Grand Jury, a process which entails investigating
the case as it is being presented to the jurors. His hard work
paid off -- he won every felony case he took to trial.
From
1984 to 1986, he entered general practice and served as First
Assistant County Attorney, broadening his experience in the
civil litigation area.
Between
1986 and 1988, he practiced in Albany with a personal injury law
firm, and then started his own law practice. In 1990, he
established his personal injury practice at its
current location, where he has successfully represented hundreds of
personal injury clients.
